How Long does it take to get Tax return in Canada
If you live outside of Canada and file a non-resident personal income tax return, it may take up to 16 weeks for your return to be processed. If your return is chosen for a more detailed review, the CRA may take longer to process it. If you use direct deposit, you may receive your refund sooner.

Why haven’t you gotten your refund yet?
If you do any of the following, the CRA may keep all or part of your refund:
- owe or will soon owe a balance
- have a garnishment order issued under the Family Orders and Agreements Enforcement Assistance Act
- have certain other outstanding federal, provincial, or territorial government debts, such as student loans, unemployment insurance and social assistance benefit overpayments, immigration loans, and training allowance overpayments
- a refund of $2 or less on any outstanding GST/HST returns from a sole proprietorship or partnership
